Open parliament
The Parliament of Montenegro  has been organising regular visits to the Parliament. The programme “Open Parliament“ has been realised since 2001 in cooperation with the Center for democratic transition (CDT) and National Democratic Institute (NDI). The Programme aims to increase the transparency of the work of the Parliament of Montenegro, demystificate its work, as well as increase citizens’ participation in parliamentary activities. In the framework of the realisation of the programme “Open Parliament“, main activities that have been realised in the previous period were public debates „Citizens ask" and citizens’ visits to the Parliament of Montenegro. Citizens’ visits to the Parliament of Montenegro have been continuously carried out since the beginning of the proramme, and in the organization of CDT and the Parliament all of the citizens and organized groups that would be interested could visit the building of the Parliament of Montenegro, familiarize themselves with its irganization and the way of functioning, as well as talk to some of the MPs or employees of the Parliament. The visits are realised by CDT coordinators in cooperation with the parliamentary service, making the information on the history of montenegrin parliamentarism available to the participants, information on current mandate of the Parliament of Montenegro, its work, rules and organization, as well as on all of the technical issues important for the functioning of the Parliament. If the parliament session is in progress, visitors have the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of discussions and law adoption, live from the press premises. Also, as part of the visits, the participants are given the possibility of meeting and talking to the MPs and parliamentary emploees.
