Gender Equality Committee and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organise a thematic workshop for MPs and parliamentary staff

Topic: “Gender equality and gender mainstreaming” 

Gender Equality Committee and the OSCE Mission to Montenegro organised a two-day thematic workshop for MPs and parliamentary staff on “Gender equality and gender mainstreaming”, with the aim of implementing one of the measures from the Action Plan for the Gender Sensitive Parliament of Montenegro, September 2016 - September 2018, which stipulates that the Parliament will permanently educate and strengthen all its capacities for the implementation of the gender equality concept in everyday work.

The workshop was held on 23 and 24 April in Podgorica Hotel.

The following spoke at the opening of the conference: Ms Sanja Pavićević, member of the Gender Equality Committee, and Ms Lia Magnaguagno, Head of the Democratization Programme at the OSCE Mission.

Member of the Committee Ms Sanja Pavićević said that it was necessary to mainstream all policies, stressing that that implementation of the Action Plan for the Gender Sensitive Parliament of Montenegro, September 2016 - September 2018, should influence on raising awareness of gender equality issues and the importance of gender equality policies, as well as establishing mechanisms for achieving gender equality in the Parliament of Montenegro.

The work of the two-day workshop, led by the experts Karolina Leaković and Slavica Striković, was conducted within the panels: "Gender Equality and Women's Human Rights - Basic Concepts", "Mainstreaming in Institutions and Politics", "Political representation of women: Voices that are not heard?", "Political Dictionary and Gender"," Women politicians in the media” and "Political system and public policies - do they work in the interests of women? ".

The following parliamentarians took part in the two-day workshop: Ms Sanja Pavićević, Ms Jovanka Laličić, Ms Ana Nikolić, Mr Zvonko Vuković and Mr Radule Novović, secretaries and advisors in the parliamentary committees.
