President of the Parliament of Montenegro Mr Ivan Brajović today has received European academicians - honorary members of the Doclean Academy of Science and Arts (DANU), who are staying in Montenegro, as well as the DANU delegation headed by its president Mr Sreten Perović.
President Brajović voiced his pleasure with the meeting with the friends of Montenegro - honorary members of the DANU - as well as with their hosts, and pointed out the significance of support of cultural creators to the identity and the overall well-being of our country.
Voicing gratitude to the President of Montenegro for the reception of the European and Montenegrin academicians, the DANU President emphasised that distinguished guests, to whom the diplomas of honorary membership would be presented tomorrow at the ceremony in Podgorica, were great poets, friends of Montenegro, and promoters of its culture.
One of winners of the honorary membership of the DANU, prof. Jon Deakonesku, PhD, reminded that the culture always created bridges among people and states, and added that he believed that precisely culture would have the strength to make Europe an area without borders.
Another winner of the honorary membership of the DANU, prof. František Lipka, PhD emphasised, as one knowledgeable about Montenegro and the entire Western Balkans, that our country had achieved in ten years a lot more than it could have been assumed and expected in 2006.
- Since then, Montenegro has managed to preserve political stability, improve its economy and standard of living, and advance in the field of foreign policy - said former Ambassador of Slovakia to Montenegro, and voiced his regret due to the opposition’s lack of participation in parliamentary life of their own country, because, as he emphasised, thus they were undermining the reputation and historic significance of the Parliament of Montenegro. Mr Lipka also said that, for him, the DANU honorary membership represented another tie to Montenegro.
The meeting with the President of the Parliament of Montenegro was also attended by a member of the DANU Dr Mihailo Burić as well as honorary consul of Ukraine to Montenegro Mr Predrag Milović, MA.
