Fourteenth meeting of the European Union - Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) will be held on Monday, 18 December 2017, in the Great Hall of the Parliament of Montenegro, starting at 15.15, under the joint chairmanship of: Mr Ivan Brajović, President of the Parliament of Montenegro, and Mr David Martin, Chairman of the EP's Delegation to the EU-Montenegro SAPC.
Opening statements will be delivered by: Mr Ivan Brajović, President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Mr David Martin, Chairman of the EP's Delegation to the EU-Montenegro SAPC, Mr Zoran Pažin, Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Interior and Foreign Policy representing the Government of Montenegro, H.E. Mr Daniel Erik SCHAER, Ambassador of Estonia to Montenegro on behalf of the Presidency in Office, H.E. Mr Aivo Orav, Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro.
Following the introductory statements, members of the SAPC will discuss topics such as: state of play of the accession negotiations and EU-Montenegro relations, functioning of the Parliament and electoral reform ahead of the upcoming elections, track record in fight against corruption and organised crime, fundamental rights and freedoms, with focus on media freedom as well as on economy and public finance.
After the meeting, Mr Ivan Brajović, President of the Parliament of Montenegro, and Mr David Martin, Chairman of the EP's Delegation to the EU-Montenegro SAPC, will give press statements at the press position in the parliamentary hall at 18.45.
The EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) was set up in June 2010, upon entering into force of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement. The Committee composed of members of the Parliament of Montenegro and the European Parliament meets twice a year in Brussels and Podgorica. SAPC considers all aspects of relations between the EU and Montenegro and, in particular, the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.
